SCABO TOY at Thailand National Science Center

Recently, we had the incredible opportunity to witness something truly inspiring: a group of kids building robots from eco-friendly cardboard. This was part of the Child University Project organized by Thailand’s National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA). What started as a fun craft project quickly became a showcase of creativity, innovation, and sustainability.

Eco-Friendly Robots and Creative Minds

Using simple materials like cardboard, kids designed and built robots that could interact through Augmented Reality (AR) and AI via ChatGPT. Watching them assemble the robots with precision and excitement was a reminder of how powerful hands-on learning can be. These weren’t just toys—they were functional robots that kids could control via mobile devices, making the whole experience both educational and fun.

Sustainability Meets Technology

What stood out most was the use of eco-friendly materials. In a world where technology often feels wasteful, these kids were creating robots using cardboard—renewable and recyclable. It was inspiring to see how they combined innovation with environmental consciousness, proving that technology can be both cutting-edge and sustainable.

One participant shared their dream of developing robots to clean up the environment, showing that the kids were already thinking about how technology can improve the world.

Empowering the Next Generation

The event wasn’t just about building robots—it was about learning real-world skills like problem-solving, teamwork, and creative thinking. The kids also explored AR and ChatGPT, using these tools to enhance their creations and share them with others.

As we watched, we realized that the future of innovation isn’t just in the hands of experts—it's in the hands of these young creators. Their curiosity and determination are shaping a future where sustainability and technology go hand in hand. We can’t wait to see what they build next
